Indoor Range Rules
Full policy: Indoor Range Policy, Club Rules.
In most cases (eg Club Days or events), the range will be under the control of a single Range Officer who has ultimate authority of all activities on the range at that time.
When & Where
- Season: 1 May – 30 September.
- Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00–8:30pm and the occasional other time as arranged.
- Tauranga Racecourse, under the grandstand.
Can I Shoot Indoors?
- Current club member with a paid Indoor Range season or social attendance.
- Hold a Blue Badge (automatic), or
- Get assessed by a nominated coach — you’ll need to consistently hit a 60cm target at 18m.
Distance
- Generally 18m. Occasionally 25m for specific events — that’s the max this venue can do.
On the Night
- A Range Officer must be present — no self-run sessions indoors.
- One shooting line only.
- All doors/access points behind the targets must be shut before shooting starts.
- The Room is restricted entry via the main door only.
Because It’s Indoors
- Space is tight — no running, no sudden movement, watch your equipment near others.
- If anyone gets in through a door behind the targets, stop shooting immediately.
- If the lights go out or look unsafe, stop and check before continuing.
If Something Goes Wrong
- Stop shooting immediately and tell the Range Officer.
- See the Emergency — What To Do page if it’s serious.
- See the Report a Concern page for anything else worth noting.
