To shoot at Tauranga Archers, all participants must be members of the club. Our membership process is designed to make sure everyone on the range understands our safety expectations and can enjoy archery in a safe, supportive environment.

Attend a Have a Go Day

Introduces you to archery and lets our coaches assess safety, behaviour, and readiness.

Join the Club

Complete the membership form and pay the appropriate fee.

Pass the Beginners Course

Builds core skills and prepares you for full club participation.

The Beginners Course is where real progress happens — it’s what takes you from your first arrow to shooting with genuine skill and confidence on your own equipment.

Building Toward the Course

Start shooting from 15m, moving up to 18m as ability improves — exactly the foundation the Beginners Course builds on.

The Beginners Course is where this really pays off — it’s the step that takes you from shooting barebow at close range to confident, competent shooting with a sighted bow. We recommend holding off on your own equipment and sight aids until you’ve completed it, so you get the most out of the coaching.

Experienced Archers & Special Cases

Been a member of another archery club within the past 12 months? You may be able to bypass the Have a Go Day and Beginners Course with proof of current or recent membership.

Left any club more than 12 months ago? You’ll need to attend a Have a Go Day for assessment — a health and safety requirement. If you’re assessed as competent, the Beginners Course won’t be required. This can sometimes be done on special arrangement. 

Membership Renewals

Membership runs for 6 or 12 months from the date you complete your membership form — rather than a fixed annual date. Renewal reminders will be sent by email ahead of your individual expiry date.

Household discounts are applied where two or more junior members from the same household are members and membership is completed at the same time.

With membership options to suit all ages, each available as a 12-month or 6-month term, running from your sign-up date.

Household discounts apply automatically when 2 or more Junior Members from the same household register together.

Affiliated Membership

Affiliated membership is only available to current full members of another archery club in New Zealand, where that club is affiliated with Archery New Zealand.
You will need to provide proof of that membership.
