Discover Archery for the First Time

Curious about archery? Our Have a Go sessions are a fun, safe, and fully coached introduction to archery — perfect for beginners with no prior experience. Sessions run once a month, last approximately 2 hours, and are suitable for people aged 11 and over. Children under 11 have a separate pathway — see our Kids U11 Archery page.

Equipment & Who Can Attend

Everything is supplied, and the session is open to a wide range of people.

  • All equipment provided — recurve bows, arrows, and safety equipment, so you don’t need to bring anything except yourself

  • Suitable for ages 11+, no experience required; parents or caregivers must remain onsite for participants under 14

Cost & What to Bring

A little preparation goes a long way out on the range.

  • $35 per person. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that won’t catch on the bowstring, and tie back long hair.

  • Bring water and dress for the conditions — sessions run outdoors rain or shine. Spectators are welcome; bring a chair and umbrella.

Location

Have a Go Days are held at our outdoor range at Graham Park, Tauranga. Access is by footpath from Edgecumbe Rd, or off the slip road to 11th Ave from Takitimu Drive, where there’s parking by the substation.

Registration

Registrations close at midnight Thursday prior to the course start. If for any reason a session is cancelled, we’ll let you know at least one hour before it’s due to start.

An additional session (2-4pm) will be added if the first session fills up.
