A Gentle Start for Younger Archers

Archery is one of the few sports a whole family can enjoy together — but it’s also a weapons sport, so our standard policy is ages 11+ for general courses and membership. For children aged 8–10, we offer a dedicated U11 pathway designed around their pace, with safety, technique, and confidence as the focus.

U11 Have a Go Days

A private, coached introduction designed specifically for younger children.

  • Run one-on-one or in a very small group, so the coach can work at your child’s pace.

  • At the end, the coach assesses whether they’re ready to progress toward membership — additional sessions may be suggested first.

U11 Membership

Once approved by a coach, a U11 archer can join the club under a few extra safety conditions.

  • Archers shoot barebow at 15 metres until they achieve the Black Achievement Badge.

  • A parent or guardian aged 16+ must directly supervise on the shooting line at all times — and may shoot alongside their child if they’re also a club member.
