Bringing Archery Into the Classroom

A six-week program for students in years 7–13, run by our qualified club coaches. Students learn the fundamentals of shooting a recurve bow safely, with the option to go on to compete nationally through the Archery New Zealand School Shoot Programme.

What You’ll Learn

A structured six-week progression, building from safety fundamentals to real technique.

  • Week 1: safety and the basics of shooting a bow correctly. Weeks 2–5: technique, scoring, and how competitions work.

  • Week 6: equipment, bow styles, and how to get your own gear if you’d like to continue with archery.

Class Times

Each term offers three class options to choose from.

  • Wednesday after school 4:00–5:30pm*, or Saturday 9:00–10:30am, or Saturday 10:30am–12pm.

    *During daylight savings, times may shift slightly due to sunset.

  • Start dates are usually around week 3 of term and confirmed once a class is full — closer to the time.

Whats Included

All equipment is supplied, including recurve bows, arrows, and safety equipment. The course fee includes temporary club membership covering equipment and range use for the duration of your classes only — it doesn’t extend to other club activities.

$135 per person for all six weeks

Payment is required at time of booking to confirm registration.

On successful completion of the course, students may be offered the opportunity to complete an assessment to become a full club member. Students can also compete nationally through the Archery New Zealand Intermediate and Secondary School Shoot Programme — see our Students Shoot page for details.
