We’ve had a very full and productive start to the season, including our first Executive & Key Roles meeting since becoming an Incorporated Society. Below is an update on what’s happening around the Club, what’s coming up, and a few important things for members to be aware of.

Just a reminder, the club is now operating on Winter Hours. At some point after the Rosebowl on Saturday, the Range will be reset to our Winter Distances. Please lend a hand to make this process efficient for all if you are around. Club days are now 1-4pm Each Sunday.

Also a reminder, as the Rosebowl is on, the range is closed to all other archers this Saturday.

We Are Now an Incorporated Society

Tauranga Archery Club is now officially an Incorporated Society (as of 5 May 2026).

Alongside this, we’re reviewing our systems and processes to ensure they are appropriate for how the Club now operates and align with current requirements. This includes things like administration, safety practices, and how activities are run day‑to‑day. These updates are being made gradually and practically, with the focus on keeping the Club running smoothly and safely.

Coaching & Getting Involved

Prospective Coaches

If you have been shooting for a while and are interested in coaching in the future, there are opportunities to get involved as a Prospective Coach.

Prospective Coaches can:

  • assist at Beginner Courses or Have‑a‑Go sessions,
  • help with setup and general guidance,
  • support participants under the supervision of qualified coaches.

This is a great way to support the Club, gain experience, and see whether coaching is something you’d like to pursue. If you’re interested, please have a chat with one of the coaches or an Executive member.

Members‑Only Coaching Course

Our members‑only Coaching Course is now confirmed.

  • 📅 Dates: Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 July
  • The course will be:
    • free for members, and
    • suitable for anyone interested in developing their coaching skills or supporting Club activities.
  • Members who are interested are encouraged to register their interest now.
    More details will be out on this soon.

Club Days – A Friendly Reminder

Club Days work best when we all pitch in.

A few friendly reminders:

  • If you’re rostered, please make every effort to attend and if you cant, organise a swap. 
  • Helping with setup when you arrive or pack‑down at the end is always appreciated.
  • Lend a hand if you see someone loading targets or putting gear away — many small helps make a big difference.
  • Coaches or Field Captains may limit activity on the day if safety requires it, to keep everyone safe and enjoying their shooting.

Regional & Club Updates

  • Preparations for upcoming ECBOPAA events are well in hand. See them below.
  • A few championship‑related topics will be discussed at the upcoming ECBOPAA AGM which happens after the Rosebowl on Saturday.
    One thing that will be discussed is: The suggestion is to shift the target event for the Championships from the Rosebowl to a multi venue event possibly shooting a Canadian 900 and variations for pre-teens and novice.
