Welcome to June. We are almost half way through the year and time is flying by.

Here’s a quick update from the recent Executive Committee meeting, along with some upcoming opportunities and important changes.

Range Safety Update – Important

Following a recent near miss on the range and feedback from a number of members, we have reviewed our current shooting practices.

What’s changing (effective immediately):

The range will now operate as a single shooting line at all times:

• All archers shoot together
• All archers collect arrows together

This brings us into line with a number of other clubs in the country

Limited Exception (Clear Separation Required)

Separate shooting is only permitted under the following condition:

• Group A: Targets 1–7
• Group B: Targets 17–19

Targets 8–16 must remain closed (no shooting or collecting)

Requirements (must all be met):

• Each group shoots together
• Each group collects arrows together
• Each group stays on its own shooting line

What this means

• You either shoot together as one group
  OR
• The range must be split exactly as above

There is no partial separation or “in-between” setup.

What’s next

This is an interim rule while we continue reviewing range layout and spacing options. More updates will follow as that work progresses.

Members‑Only Coaching Course

Our Coaching Course is now confirmed. This will be facilitated by our head coach, Tony.

• Saturday 18 July – Level 1 Foundations 10am-4pm
  This course is open to all current Tauranga Archers members, aged 16 years or over.
  This course is suitable for members with less than two years’ archery experience who wish to get involved with club coaching and assist with running have-a-go days and beginner courses.
  It is a great way to give back to the club, and gain some extra knowledge that can help your own shooting.
• Sunday 19 July – Level 2 Development 10am-4pm
  This course is open to all current Tauranga Archers members, aged 18 years or over, have been involved in archery for at least two years and have completed the Level 1 course (can be done the day prior).
  The course will enable candidates to lead club beginner courses and have a go days, as well as work with club members to support their development and growth.

This free course is suitable for members interested in developing their coaching skills and supporting Club activities.

If you would like to take part, then sign up now. We are limited in space so get in quick. If we run out of space then we will look at alternative venues or drawing from a hat as to who gets a space.

Members Workshop – Indoor Range

We’re planning a practical members workshop at the indoor range. The tentative and most likely date is Saturday 1 August 12-3pm.

Focus:

• Bow and equipment maintenance
• String care and replacement
• Basic repairs and setup

This will be a relaxed, hands-on session run by experienced club members. It is open to all club members who want to learn how to look after their equipment. All ages, experience and bow types are welcome to take part.

We’re looking for volunteers who are happy to help run parts of the day.

Members-Only Facebook Group

We now have a members-only Facebook group up and running.

This will be used for:

• Updates
• Reminders
• General chat amongst the members

This is a great space to be talking, selling your gear to members and easy communication amongst everyone.

It does not replace any official communication we need to send. That will remain on email.
